My sister wanted to take me to a meeting at a church called "MentalWealth." The name says it all.
So I told her this: "I don't want wealth."
I don't think she expected that.
But it is a simple thing for me to say that sums it up.
I've tasted Christ through me, and I've tasted wealth.
I know which one I prefer. And I also know that prosperity never satisfies me ... and the more I try to feed that hunger; the greater the appetite grows. Lusting for wealth is a leading away from Christ toward a vain pursuit. ... something I do enough without looking for a new opportunity / teaching or system that promotes it.
So, at least we got to talk about these things some more. I hope she takes my instruction to heart ...
Prosperity is not having more ... it is having enough and wanting nothing.
Contentment happens in bankruptcy court, prison and cancer wards as soon as Christ becomes the focus, for He alone satisfies our heart's longings.
Lets make bumper-stickers: "I don't want health. I don't want wealth. Don't waste my time. I want the manifestation Christ in me?"
