What is wrong with these statements? - A contest with a prize.

Your choice of a tee-shirt from the store to the best answer.

What is wrong with these statements?

  1. God may love you, but you may do something that gives Him no choice but to stop loving you.
  2. God may not love you now, but you could do something that gives Him no choice but to begin loving you.

God's love does not depend upon the actions of man.

Between the two of them, they're about 37 words longer than need be.

God loves you.

That's about right.

What's wrong with those statements is that they say God's love depends on what we do or don't do.

God is the initiator of love. He loved us first.
1 John 4:19...We love because God first loved us.

We don't earn God's love or approval. We can't. No one will be justified by following the law. The law's purpose was to lead us to Christ.

When we realize that we are totally acceptable to God because of Christ, we are freed of the burden of trying to please God. We are more able to let him live through us.

They are both totally wrong, cos no matter what you do GOD will always love you unconditionally. BUT he does give us the choice to seek the manifestation of his love in our lives or not, so it is up to us. It is like HE is sitting and saying "do you want me in your life or not? either ways I am always here".

Howabout, "What is an absolute lack of any reference to Jesus Christ in those statements", Alex?

God loves His Son.
I'm in His Son.
God loves me-IN-Jesus!

"God is love", so there is no way God has ever not loved you, nor is there any point when He will stop loving you, because God is love.

God loves you whether you accept His free gift of salvation or not. There is nothing you can do to make God love you more, and there is nothing you can do to make God love you less. He loves each of us in a way that is so far beyond our comprehension, because love is His very essence.
