Hebrews 1
1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
As I have said in many posts, that God has spoken to me in a variety of ways. Once by a traffic jam. Another time God spoke to me through a friend's book. There are countless things that God has used to speak to me. Rather than list them all, it suffices to say what Hebrews 1 says ... "various ways." I am sure it is the same for all of God's sheep. But, where does Jesus fit into the picture "these last days?"
Jesus is a special way that God is speaking to us these days. I could go on and on about the uniqueness of Jesus, and I have done so (for example, here and here.) Jesus is the greatest expression of the Father. He alone, can answer those asking to see the Father by saying: "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, `Show us the Father'? 10 "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. 11 "Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves." Indeed the Lord is the visible image of the invisible God, as Paul has taught us. One can claim immense knowledge of God by Jesus, but one cannot claim ignorance about God if one is ignorant about Jesus, can they?
Scripture is pretty clear that the Word of God and His revelation is seen clearly throughout the creation, so that nobody can claim ignorance. In short, God speaks in concert through many things, all of which complete a single expression of Truth ... the same Truth that is expressed through the Son, for He is of the Father.
Some people would zealously contend that God is limited, now ... that He is handcuffed because of Hebrews 1, and that all the various ways that God has spoken to us in the past, no longer can be used. This is a terrible comprehension of Hebrews 1, in my opinion ... for we know that God continues to bombard the universe with the knowledge of the Truth. Yes, even now doing so through the Son, whereas He had not done so in times past. The limitation was pre-Bethlehem. The limitation was before the birth of the Lord Jesus. Now, we stand in more light, because the Light has come, and is, and will come again.
Whereever darkness lurks, will He not send even more light? Are we not designed to be His lamps, and lights into the world? Will He keep us in the dark about His comings and goings, or will He treat us as friends?
Joh 15:15 - I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
Amos 3:7 - Surely the Lord GOD does nothing Unless He reveals His secret counsel To His servants the prophets.
Ac 2:17 - "'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams."
Wake up! We stand in the last days, and God's Spirit is poured out ... This is not a time where we hear a faint murmur nor lullaby ... but instead a Trumpet ... the alarm of war! Let's crook our necks, cup our ears, and open wide our eyes, for we stand in the full blaze of the noon daylight and God is speaking to as many has have ears to hear, and have not stopped them shut. He is showing mighty things to as many has have eyes to see, and have not squeezed them in a tight squint. Shall we say God is limited, while He is explaining what more and more light He is shedding upon the world? I say we should not ... but that is just me.
My commandment to you is to love those who have wronged you and forgive them, starting with your own self; and be patient with those whom you have wronged. ~ Jesus [Letters from God and His Christ - Volume 6 - Bear Fruit According to the Spirit of Truth]
