Part 5: Continuing to Examine Our Identity in Christ

4 More Jewels in Our Inheritance as Children of God
by Bud

Without the death and resurrection of Jesus, we would still be God's enemy and still be spiritually dead in trespasses and sins (1 Corinthians 15). Without these two monumental works of Christ, everything we have become, from being born again (John 3) to being participants in the divine nature of God (2 Peter 1), would not have been possible.

Christ's death eternally changed our relationship to God; humanity is no longer God's enemy: "And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death …" (Colossians 1:21).

Because God is no longer our enemy, we are freed to consider the gospel and respond to the testimony of the Father and the Holy Spirit concerning the Son:

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."
1 John 5:11-12 NKJV

If I die with an insurance policy, my beneficiaries receive only one benefit - their portion of the policy amount. Yet, the power of Jesus' death not only paid out a 'death benefit' of forgiveness, it produced much more for those who would believe in Him and become born again. Let's examine just four of the many 'benefits', which are direct results of His sacrificial death for us.

"""Because He took our unrighteousness upon Himself, we have received the righteousness of Christ, and we can enter into the presence of God without fear of destruction or condemnation."""

Excellent!

Thank the Lord!

Still ripening,

REPENT! And give Me glory according to the New Covenant by which you are saved. Call on My name by the name of He who I have given My name. One sin repented in the Christs name, all are forgiven you. ~ God [Letters from God and His Christ - Volume 4 ~ Transgression]
