Jesus fulfilled the Law and the Prophets concerning His first coming in order to reveal grace, truth and life to mankind. That's why He consistently taught about the uniqueness of His life:
John 6:48-50a "I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread, which comes down from heaven that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread, which came down from heaven."
John 10:17-18 "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father."
John 6:40 "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day."
No wonder Paul was able to summarize the Gospel in one verse "For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life" (Romans 5:10).
