Through His Son, God revealed that Israel and the rest of the world would receive life in the exact same way - choose God and receive life by choosing God the Son, Jesus Christ.
So, in order to approach God for life:
1. our sins must be paid for,
2. that payment must satisfy Him, and
3. we must break free of the guilt which holds us back from coming to Him
4. by believing He has truly forgiven us.
