Jewel #4 – You Have Redemption = You Have Forgiveness
“In Him [Jesus Christ] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace. “
Ephesians 1:7
Redemption requires an exchange. By God’s grace, He chose to exchange our sins for the blood of His Son and call things even. Redemption means we have been completely forgiven by God, because He is satisfied with the blood of Jesus as complete payment for sins. Therefore, He no longer holds the sins of people against them.
Redemption also reminds us that forgiveness is an act of God’s grace. The depth of His grace is revealed when we discover He has not only forgiven our sins, but He has also forgotten them:
“No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."
