Was Judas the Catalyst for the Crucifiction?

Now that we understand the salvation from the Old Covenant versus the New, we can address Judas’ status more clearly. Now, since he under the Old Covenant, if he was trusting in God’s promise even though he sinned out of greed, impatience and suicide, he was saved as an Old Testament saint. He went to paradise/Abraham’s bosom (Luke 16:19-31) like the thief at the cross (Luke 23:43). He got to listen to Jesus preach the gospel to the Old Testament saints and hang his head in shame at having followed his flesh and Satan. This truly sounds worse than trying to swim with a millstone around one’s neck, even if that person is saved (Matthew 18:6; Mark 9:42; Luke 17:2).

If Judas had rejected God’s promise all along, then he is lost and only has the sheep and goat resurrection-of-the-lost judgment (Matthew 25:31-46) to reveal his lost state, before he receives the ‘second death’ of being cast into the lake of fire with Satan, the anti-Christ, the false prophet and the angels who joined Satan in rebellion (Revelation 20:7-15). This also sounds much worse than trying to swim with a millstone around one’s neck.

Now, I don’t mean to sound like I’m coming across as a fence sitter, but I barely know what I think some days, much less be in a position to read Judas’ mind about what he believed. From the Gospel records and Acts I know some of what he did and even less of what he said as a disciple, but God knows it all. And all I know about God and His ways are the things I know because I know and am known by His Son Jesus Christ and, therefore, know God Himself.

Thanks for the continued interest in GraceHead. Continue to send us feed back on what you would like to hear any of the writing team talk about.

Until next time ...
