Universalism - How man can redeem God.

Why is God doomed?

Don't we all want to be the hero, and save the distressed underdog from certain doom? There is something in the flesh of a man that desires this heroic drama to unfold so that we set something straight and rescue the needy ... perhaps this is why men find Universalism so appealing ... it couldn't be more flattering to mankind. We get to save God from His certain doom.

Well, it isn't until every man becomes a sheep that God's just and kind name can be restored. So collectively mankind must first believe and bow their collective heads and bend their knees so that God won't have to destroy anyone and thereby ruin His track-record of being so full of love. If man doesn't ascent mentally to the Lordship and willingly submit to God, then what will God do ... He is stuck without our will-power to repent of our rebellion.

Ah, but not that stuck after all. God is going to use His sovereignty to manipulate even those that do not want it to become sheep. Never mind that no beast that is a goat has ever become a sheep in all of history, nor has a single weed every become wheat in all of history. Don't let that bother you, because God is sovereign and He will force those that are opposed to Him to be with Him and all those that scatter from Him to gather to Him ... and all of those that blaspheme the Holy Spirit ... He'll put the screws to them long enough to convince them otherwise and eventually become receptive to the Holy Spirit.

Everyone will be drug, kicking and screaming into heaven whether they like it or not ... that is Universalism, and the only chance that God will be saved ... once every last human soul has relented to His mighty pressure ... but not before that takes place.

Of course I am being a bit sarcastic, but only to make a point. I am sure that any Universalist is writing me off as a "partialist," or "limitarian" or some normative Christian that sees man's will as able to thwart God's attempts at saving us. Or that we could resist His sovereignty somehow. That's not it.

Maybe some are reading this and wanting to interject all the fabulous scripture that points out that Jesus died for the entire world, and reconciled His enemies to Himself, dying not only for our sins but for those sins of the entire world, right? Am I denying that? One would have to be a biblical ignoramus to deny that all men are reconciled and that Jesus died for everyone in the world that has ever been born.
