Miracles that I don't want to take for granted.

If I was unable to walk all my life, then when I rolled out of bed this morning and took a step, I would have been filled with pleasure and awe. But I wasn't filled with delight ... I take it for granted.

If I was blind my whole life, I would have been beside myself when I cracked open my eyelids this morning and my eyes saw everything clearly. But, I did not thank the Lord ... for I don't know what it is like to be without sight.

Same for hearing and the rest of my God given abilies ... I take it all for granted, but what if I didn't?

What if I jumped up in the morning filled with joy that I can see ... I can hear ... my legs function and I can get around even though I am used to it!?!?

What if I lived in the continual praise for the miracle of life?!?!

Wouldn't we all be better off just basking the delight of who He has made us and what He has given us in this life taking none of it for granted?

So, maybe there are reasons why we sometimes find ourselves sick, tired, depleted, or even handicapped. We get to wait and wait and learn to see these simple things (such as health) as gifts so that we can live in the delight of the Lord for His blessings and the gift of life, itself. I don't have all the understanding in the world as to why we sometimes suffer loss, but it seems to me that we get to experience contrast as we suffer losses. When we go through trouble and lack, we have a fresh reason to give thanks for all things, perhaps things we took for granted before.

Now excuse me as I run down the street screaming "I can see. I can see! Its a miracle, I can see! My whole life, I've been able to see!!!" (This should be fun!)

I serve , the Lord.
