Regarding the Celebration of "Christmas"

11/17/04 - From Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
A Letter Given to Timothy, For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear.

[Jesus speaking.]
Timothy, write these words as I bestow them upon you.

Long have men celebrated the ritual of men called now "Christmas". I say this to you, with all manner of authority and righteousness, the name of Christ shall have no word attached to it other than My name given by the Father. I know many say they celebrate this holiday in loving memory of My earthly birth, yet on this day I did not come into the world by way of water and blood, for that day is not written and no other days (dates) recorded of My works. It is only written that I have come and that My works did follow Me. Heed My words. I know, in ignorance, many do celebrate My earthly birth as a beginning of their salvation. Yes, I say, sing and rejoice, as likewise did God's angels do in that day, for I am the Beginning and the End... I am forever. So I say to you, My birth into the world was not the beginning, for nothing was created that was not created through Me. If it were not so I would have told you.

Assuredly, I say to you, all rituals, given by and from pagans, are abomination. Indeed, all religions, religious rituals and celebrations, not in My name, which glorify not My Father, are abomination.

To worship God the Father, through the Son, is pure worship. Any worship not to the Son, up to the Father, you are in error. And any worship of the Son is to worship the Father.

I say in a loud voice, to worship in any way liken unto paganism is abomination! In the modern age, where, I ask you, is the Christians' hearts? To worship wholly, and in righteous purity, is to be one with Me in the Spirit. You call to Me, and I come to you, and together we become one in the Holy Spirit, for this is a gift given by the Father, for in His Spirit are all in creation connected and one with Him.

So again, I say, if you celebrate this holiday, I say, woe. I know your heart is in the place of worshiping any and all ways, but how can we be one if your heart and mind go from here to there? Indeed, what do all these things have to do with Me? Why do you decorate the tree? Have I not made it as beautiful as it should be? Why decorate your house? My house has no need of decorations, for in humbleness will your house shine forth. Why do you give gifts in My name? I am He who gives the gift... you only need receive it. In following My ways, you give gifts to Me and to each other and all those around you, for the gifts I bring are forever. What matter these things of the world which will soon pass away? You say all these things are a metaphor and a testament to Me. I say anything coming from the rituals of sin are sin. Do not do it! Instead, do only as the Word of God instructs, for the season of giving is each and every day. And the season of love is indeed every day, every hour, every minute, every moment of life, in Me.

So I say to you, give worldly gifts to each other if you so choose, but do it not as pagans, for this is sin. Instead, give gifts to your loved ones as you see fit to do with love for them and by them. Do it not on the 25th day of December, for this day was put forth by pagans in worship of false gods, which is the breaking of the Father's first and foremost commandment.

I know your heart, Timothy, you wish to have others know My ways. Then show them by your ways, then My ways will become clear.

I know you love your December holiday, but you must forsake it, for I have called you to a higher calling than those around you. I have called you to Truth and the salvation of men, and to war.

You wish to celebrate My name and My earthly birth... this you already do.

You wish to make festivals for your family to enjoy, do so. Be careful not to do as the pagans and false teachers would have you do. You must be separate from the world, Timothy.

So I say to you, cast away your tree and lights and decorations of this holiday. Instead, celebrate your family and Me in your own way. As you celebrated fall, and not the day of the dead, also do unto the winter holidays.

Yes, teach your children what is written of My earthly birth and the Salvation Day of Men.

Know this, the Salvation Day of Men is four-fold: It was ordained before the foundation of the world, fulfilled at My birth, finished at My death on the cross and solidified eternally upon My resurrection.

Amen!

Scrooges of the world unite!lol!

Actually, the reality of Christmas leaves a lot to grumble about. Depression abounds in many because of unhappy memories of a day that is hyped by the world to becoming one of high expectations and those material expectations never quite pan out. Even when they are met. Suicide and the holidays walk hand in hand. Most others spend beyond what they can afford and sell themselves into bondage to their credit cards. ALL who celebrate become stressed during this season as getting ready for Christmas is the equivelent of taking on a second job.

I spent years in taking part in this mad rush anticipating the moment when it would all be over and I could get back to normal. The last few years of Scroogedom have been so much more pleasant. Mostly because without the rush of Christmas, I still have time to spend with my God during the months of November and December!

"The truth shall set you free!"

Hi Pam,

I applaud your emphasis on the despair of suicide and how Christ delivers us from it.

On the other hand (to talk of trivial things), the suicide/Christmas link is a common misconception.

Woe, B.B.,

Is suicide trivial in your eyes or in the eyes of the Lord?!

If one has committed suicide, this is one to many.

BB,

I hope you come back to this...

So many Christians these days lament the world taking Christ out of the holiday. I'm more concerned that I keep the world out of this Christian and portray a right image of Jesus to those who don't know Him.

December 25th is not Jesus' birthday and most mature Christians know this. I have no reason to celebrate as Jesus birthday and if it were important to Him that we celebrate that day, He would have let us know when it is. Special Holy Days are a part of religion and Jesus didn't come to start a new religion. He came to die for our sins and rise again that we might have eternal life. He also came to show us how to live a Godly life. To follow His example and live godly during this time of year, I can't bring Pagan objects and stories into my home and call them Christian and ask God to approve them. It is fine for me to tell of Christ's earthly incarnation at any time of year including now but I must make sure that what I tell is Biblical and not the condensed version that is popular. It is also fine to give people gifts at any time of year including now but it is never good to rack up credit card debt. It is also not good for anyone to build such high expectations on any day for they can never be met and when they are met materially, the satisfaction from it never lasts.

So...if I take the world out of this Christian at this time of year, I'm left with doing what I should do every day. Loving people, seeking to fill what physical needs of theirs that I'm able, and proclaiming Jesus Christ. Truly, in Jesus every day is a day to celebrate Him.

Amen! Well put.
Being an example of Christ in us...amen, Pam.

If I may mention this:

"Special Holy Days are a part of religion and Jesus didn't come to start a new religion." ~ Pam

Special ["holidays" of MEN] are a part of religion and Jesus didn't come to start a new religion.

The Holy Days in the Bible were given, ordained and sanctified by God as a glaring sign post for those who have received understanding in Jesus; and as a teacher, in the keeping and remembering of them according to Jesus, to show us His plan of salvation, completely fulfilled and will be fulfilled in Jesus the Messiah. Amen.

God's Holy Days reveal His glory in Christ -> pure/holy

Man's holidays reveal man's vanity and sin -> corruption/vexation of spirit/unholy

And the season of love is indeed every day, every hour, every minute, every moment of life, in Me. ~ Jesus

Pam, Tim,

Apparently I have miscommunicated myself here. I was merely saying that less people commit suicide during the Christmas season, and I think we should be thankful for that. Do you disagree?

Is a single suicide one too many? Yes, definitely!

Pam, Tim,

Up until this point I had thought my own view on this matter was secret, but since you have both associated it with me I will not deny it.

I feel I ought to celebrate Christmas in keeping with my conscience before God as He leads me. Here is the way I consider it:

Jesus celebrated the feast of dedication. This was to commemorate the time during the Maccabean period when the temple was cleansed. The word we use to describe this feast today is Hanukkah.

Did the Old Testament tell the Jews to celebrate Hanukkah? Truly, truly, the Old Scriptures require no such ceremony.

Yet Jesus celebrated it because it had a noble purpose: to recognize the process of being set apart for the Lord ... Even though the holiday was not commissioned through Scripture it does not mean it was forbidden by God. Perhaps He commissioned it!

How much more noble than cleansing the temple of old was the gift of Christ who cleansed His temple, the Church! And how much more ought I to celebrate it!

As for your fear that sinners and hypocrites might act paganly on the same day: what if the widow's mite had been given on a day the pagan's had committed to charitable acts? Would that have -in any way- compromised her devotion to the Lord?

The earth is the Lord's and everything that dwells within it. All the days are His, especially the ones where His people worship Him.

If a man sets aside the very day pagans had revered false gods with, and if on that very day he thanks God for His unexplainable work, will you weep for him? Is he not blessed? Did Jesus not do this very thing on every day -whether it was venerated by sinners or otherwise?

I am not a prophet, but I 'believe' I know where your hearts are on this one: you do not want people to worship God with outward ceremony, but with inward earnest. And I praise God for that in you.

If you woe my celebration this year, that is acceptable to me because I celebrate out of my devotion. If you search your hearts you will be with me in seeing that true and honest devotion has no need of compensation or the agreement of others, even though it longs for unity among believers.

The Sciptures are clear that some people regard some days more than others, but each person ought to be fully convinced in his own mind because that which is not done in faith is sin.

Thank you for hearing me out on this matter, Pam and Tim. As a personal favor to me (though you need not consider it to be a Christmas gift per se) could I persuade you to giving me your interpretation on Jesus celebrating Hanukkah? Though I may disagree I always find both your views uplifting in the respective styles God has given you.

I regret that I make known my disagreements with you so frequently here and so rarely mention my many agreements with you in particular, Tim. I think that is very sad, and I ought to do the opposite.

B.B.

Have you read the other blogs here regarding Xmas??... The evidence is clear.

Clearly you misunderstand and do not realize, nor see the difference, nor do you believe the Word I post comes from the mouth of the Lord.

Listen and take this to heart, as this is what the Lord has told me:
Every person who celebrates this holiday knowing its origins and having received warning from the Lord to forsake it, yet decides within themselves do so anyway in spite of the Lord's warning, WILL NOT BE GATHERED, not one!... They shall be left unto refinement in the Day of the Lord. Only the pure in heart, who remain in complete ignorance will be gathered.

The Lord has clearly commanded to have nothing to do with that which is an ABOMINATION to the Lord.
In no way am I angry here, but I must be firm as the Lord leads me, because you are trying to rationalize and justify what the Lord hates.

Heed the Lord's correction.

I did not post my "evidence" blogs to convince anyone... only to help them understand why the Lord calls man's "holidays" abomination and desecration.

His Word stands alone and should be obeyed and followed just as His Word in the Bible should be followed and obeyed. There really is no debate. Only obedience or disobedience... hearing or forbearing.

Thus has the Lord spoken regarding man's holidays:

"Repent, and return to My Sabbaths, and forsake all of man’s holidays and false worshipping, and I may yet have mercy on you, and hide you from the great and terrible day of God’s wrath that shall come upon the whole world! " ~ God

"Those who love anything in this world, more than Me, are not worthy of Me. To be a friend of the world is enmity with God. Stop stifling the Spirit I have given you. To celebrate and worship Me, in any way not as it is written, is a desecration of My name! To mix anything I have given, with that which is of satan, is abomination!
Little children, come out of her. The harlot has deceived you, and you willingly commit adultery with her, reveling in all her fornications." ~ Jesus

"I shall speak plainly, so those slow to understanding may hear, though their ears are dull and their eyes are dim.
These modern holidays, Christmas, Easter and Halloween, are abomination in the eyes of the Lord God Almighty. I shall destroy them and wipe them from the face of the whole earth. No more shall you break My commands, and revel in sin, in the Son’s name. My countenance is turned against you! says the Lord of Hosts. You shall not blaspheme the name of Christ!...You and your detestable idols, your false worship, your misuse of My name and the Christ’s, your vanities, your greed, your envy, your lusts, your drunkenness, your gluttonous appetites, your fornications, your false witness and lying to your children, your covetousness, your thefts, your murders causing those to destroy themselves...all you do is adultery against your Lord.
I have given you many days to honor My Son...you forget them all, especially the one I have given you every seventh day. What do all these things have to do with Me? Why do you do them in the Son’s name? Give the gift of His name...by His name are you saved, no other. Stop these vain babblings! You speak things in ignorance of the Truth. Shut your mouths, stop your blaspheming. Be silent before your Lord, and speak to Me in spirit. You have all become as the pagan and the heathen, by which all your holidays have their origins. Abomination! The harlot has led you into temptation by her false witness." ~ God

B.B., once you have knowledge of the Truth you must now walk in its ways. To do otherwise is sin and a denial of His Word, placing the commandments/doctrines and traditions of men over God.

I have told you the Truth as heard from the Lord; and according to the Truth in the Bible; and of the history, this, you know already.

May the Lord grant you understanding, trust and the strength to walk according to His Word,
Timothy

God is spirit; and worshippers must worship Him spiritually and truly." ~ John 4:24

These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far away from Me. Their worship of Me is useless, because they teach man-made rules as if they were doctrines.'" ~ Matthew 15:8-9

The following verses in the Bible give reference to God’s anger regarding those who would worship idols and even His people who would adopt the pagan rituals of the lands they went into.

But when you have driven them out and settled in their land, and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared by inquiring about their gods, saying “How do these nations serves their gods?” We will do the same. You must not worship the Lord your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods. See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it. ~ Deuteronomy 12:30-32 NIV

Do not learn the ways of the Gentiles... ~ Jeremiah 10:2 NIV (Gentiles were pagan)

...because they forsook Him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths. In His anger against Israel the Lord handed them over to raiders who plundered them. He sold them to their enemies all around, who they were no longer able to resist. ~ Judges 2:13-14 NIV

He followed Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and Molech the detestable god of the Ammonites. So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not follow the Lord completely, as David his father had done. On a hill east of Jerusalem, Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the detestable god of Moab, and for Molech the detestable god of the Ammonites. He did the same for his foreign wives, who burned incense and offered sacrifices to their gods. The Lord became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice. Although He had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord’s command. So the Lord said to Solomon, “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept My covenant and My decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates. ~ 1 Kings 11:5-11 NIV

Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the Lord, and I saw women sitting there mourning Tammuz. He said to me, “Do you see this, son of man? You will see things that are even more detestable than this.” He then brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord, and there at the entrance to the temple, between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men. With their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun in the east. He said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a trivial matter for the house of Judah to do the detestable things they are doing here? Must they also fill the land with violence and continually provoke Me to anger? Look at them putting the branch to their nose! Therefore, I will deal with them in anger... ~ Ezekiel 8:14-18 NIV

The Bible gives specific instructions on what was to be done regarding those who did these detestable pagan rituals:

Abstain from every form of evil. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:22 NIV

Also read: Deuteronomy 18:9-12, Ephesians 5:11-12, Leviticus 19:31, Deuteronomy 18:10-12
Leviticus 20:27, 1 Chronicles 10:13

Once again, God does not approve of us having festivals and celebrations or holidays that are rooted in paganism. Paganism is based on worshiping false gods and idols. Doing these things is detestable to the Lord.

...for they have committed adultery and blood is on their hands. They committed adultery with their idols; they even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to Me, as food for them. They have also done this to Me: At that same time they defiled My sanctuary and desecrated My Sabbaths. On the very day they sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered My sanctuary and desecrated it. That is what they did in My house. ~ Ezekiel 23:37-39 NIV

...No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too. You cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. ~ 1 Corinthians 10:20, 21 NIV

We know that the instruction and examples given in the Bible were recorded for our spiritual instruction and benefit (Romans 15:4). From the verses listed in this study and the Letters from God and His Christ, we see that God abhors His people following the customs of the pagan cultures. We also know that He finds idol-worshiping and false gods detestable. To honor any of these pagan rituals, symbols or characteristics in our own life, would be to dishonor the Lord. Once we know the truth about how God feels about these practices, we must remove them from our lives.

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. ~ John 4:24 NIV
(We cannot worship God in truth and spirit with false practices adopted from the worship of nonexistent gods, originating from those who reveled in sins of the flesh, acting in the manner of demons.)

This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. ~ Mark 7:6-7 NIV

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. ~ Colossians 2:8 NIV

Other verses regarding walking in the truth of the Lord:
2 Timothy 3:16; Matthew 15:6-9; 2 Corinthians 6:14-17; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Mark 7:13; 1 Peter 2:9, 1 Corinthians 13:11, 1 John 2:6; 1 Corinthians 11:1

From God the Father, given to Timothy:
He who has received of the Truth, and accepted, must walk in its ways. For he shall be judged by the way he has taken and walked...this is the narrow path. For those, who know the path and stray far from it, shall be condemned... this is the wide path that leads to destruction.

BB,

Thank you for your detailed answer. We each must follow our own conscience and only God can change any human heart.

I used to think somewhat as you do. Not in reference to Haunaka but that in Christ, all things are made clean and for a long time, Christmas was associated with Jesus and not its Pagan origins. That is no longer true as Paganism is one of the fastest growing religions. They laugh at us for celebrating as they do. For this reason, I believe I must have a sharper witness in this time. Also, I do this in regard to persons who come to Christ out of Pagan religions.

The dirty little secret of many Christian parents today is their childrens involvment with Paganism. It has T-boned many of us and my family is one. Thankfully, my son has come out the other side but not without scars. Pagan religions are not harmless and loving. Honestly, I can't look at a Christmas Tree in the same way as I did before and I can't deem any of it benign.

Actually, it is a relief. I still do seek to redeem the time and extra time off work is spent with family. We do buy some gifts but the 25th is not a special day for them. It is cold out and it is a good time of year to look for people in need and spend some of our surplus filling some of that need. We must live in the world, we can't go out of it, but we aren't to be of it either. Much of what is called Christmas is of the world, I have to live with it, but I'll not take it in. I am the kind of person that one day is like another and every day is to celebrate Jesus. Besides, I'm not a Catholic so why should I go around talking about Mass?LOL!
