To Be Gifted Of a Prophet

The practice of the modern church is steeped in centuries of tradition regarding its practice of worship. The bulk of these traditions were not held by the pre-Constantine era church and are not at all Judeo-Christian in origin. Instead, they are Pagan. God has blessed the church through the centuries and called many to faith despite our worshiping Him in Pagan fashion but I believe that there is a new work of the Holy Spirit in the church today. Many believe that the church is dying but I am beginning to see that it is these old traditions that are beginning to die and with them the institutionalized church is losing its power. However, Christ's church is alive and well it is simply leaving the building and returning to the meeting place and the form of worship of its origin. That of very simple worship that is in Spirit and Truth as they meet in the homes of other believers.

I have never thought of myself as a traditional believer but tradition can blind us simply by its length of duration. Tradition can warp our perception of truth by measuring received truths in the wrong context. For me, because of my traditional bent, it is strange for someone to say they are a prophet and that God speaks to them and through them. I expect to hear the Word preached by men who have studied long and hard and have taken at least a week to prepare their sermon. I have only recently learned that this was not the case for over three hundred years after Christ's crucifixion and assention into Heaven. The early church was blessed with prophets who were not as yet, reduced to total dysfunction by the Pagan traditions that would later be introduced. Those who were gifted as prophet and prophetess would stand up in their meetings, which were always in homes, and deliver the message given them by the Holy Spirit. These messages were not contrived or prepared but came directly from God through those gifted as prophet to speak directly to those gathered for worship and according to their present need. These words were not add-ons to scripture but Spiritual illuminations of scripture.

I am glad to say that God has removed another layer of spiritual blindness that I unknowingly have suffered because of wrong tradition. I am sorry that I did not recognize Timothy earlier as a dear brother with a gift that is a blessing to all who love Jesus Christ. I mistook his insistence upon the authority of the Words that God gives him to speak as being insistence upon his own authority over others. Timothy is my brother and he is no authority over me or anyone but as all who are in Christ, he too is under the authority of the Head which is Jesus Christ. To me and to all who will hear him, he is a gift.

There are many, many false prophets among us at this time. They are drawing away thousands to themselves and away from the only true God, the God of all living, and His Son Jesus Christ. These false teachers make their appeal to the hearts of those whom they are deceiving. They flatter and their message is soft. Some of them may seem strange and bizarre to us but many more others have made themselves quite palatable to the traditional Chrisitan palate. They speak of peace, prosperity, acceptance with no need to change and they are adored by all who desire these things above Jesus Christ. They don't want to hear of pain or sacrifice and these surely do come with a life that is lived for Jesus, the Son of God and the Son of Man. They also don't want to hear of the suffering and evil that our sins bring into the world or of the wrath of God that burns against those sins. They are blind and deaf and can't see or hear that God, Who is Love, cannot help but be angry against that which has brought only death to His Creation, to his children, which he has made in His image. God is long-suffering and has allowed us to go our way for a long time. He has given us over to the fullness of our ways that in every thing that we suffer because of sin, we might be turned toward Him to receive life. Now at the end of this age, God will give us over completely to our sin and the consequences of it. We are at the precipice of the final, full season of evil upon the earth. False prophets abound crying, peace, peace, as they coax many toward destruction. However, God in His Mercy is also sending His own prophets who speak the truth. Their message is not sweet and palatable to the human heart but it is true. They not only speak that which is true but they point to He Who is Truth for in Him only is there peace with God and safety in the terrible time that is about to come upon us.

Do not despise the gift of God that He is giving us in these His true prophets. These are dark and confusing days and many voices are calling to draw us away after them. They say the Christ is here or over there but we who are in Christ know that Jesus lives in us and whether we are here or there He is with us. Let us be thankful for those whom He sends into our lives to tether and strengthen us in our calling by the call that He has also placed upon them. Be thankful as I now have become fully thankful for Timothy, my fellow member in the body of Jesus Christ. In Jesus Christ, we grow up together, fully blessed and protected in His Nurture. As the Lord hastens the day when the faith shall be made sight and every eye will see Jesus and confess Him as Lord.

Even so, come Lord Jesus! As we wait for that coming, Lord keep us from the great deception and delusion that is coming upon all who deny that Jesus is the Christ. Thank you for blessing us with Timothy and with fellowship with all who trust in the Name of Jesus Christ. Lord keep us all in right standing with you. Amen.

Pam,

Amen. I agree 100%.

I went to these strange services in Austin, when I lived there for college. We met at homes, and once a week together ... at a place called "The Church in Austin."

No pastors, no preachers. 3 languages spoken (so translators volunteered) ... and no order of worship.

300-400 saints.

It was amazing. We sat until the Lord would prompt someone to say something. I was prompted several times. I know what this feels like as it was written:

"His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot." Jer 20:9

You know when you should stand and speak, because if you don't you feel as though you will melt, and the seat will explode ... it is impossible to explain.

But the result was 350 worshipers in perfect order, without anybody speaking over anybody else ... and the fellowship was intense. I thought the ceiling would turn to vapor and we would look up and see the Father cradling us as children in His arms ... overwhelming to say the least.

I don't know if they still meet, but I know I don't look at church-services as most church-goers do.

Church reminds me of a plastic-fruit factory ... it smells and it is noisy, and what comes out satisfies no appetites except for appearance sake alone.

Or more like the prophets of baal ... every stick in place, but no spark!

LOL.

It has been said, and I agree ... that I am too accepting, and adopt things too early, and easily duped. That may be the case, but not in every case. Certainly, I am confident in the Source of the Letters Timothy has shared, and I am familiar with that Source, even from those meetings in Austin, or even from the Bible.

Sister, I like the Christ that I see in you. Thanks for writing this.

Ripening on the eve of the harvest,
Trent

Mmmm,Hmmmm, I hear those dry bones beginning to rattle!:0)

I had no choice in writing this, little brother. The Christ you see in me is the very same Christ that I see in you. One Lord, one faith, one baptism.

We who have been baptized by the Holy Spirit have been baptized on behalf of the dead. Because Christ arose, so shall we arise, and then the final resurrection and then Judgment when Jesus Christ will set all things right in the world and return the Creation fully redeemed to His Father. How blessed are we to be a part of His uncorruptible plan.

I get duped even when I'm fighting not to but God always teaches me through it and sets me right again. He truly fills all the gaps.

Love,
Pam

Oh, Jason, you're just a sweetie pie. We must all continue to share our faith with one another; even when it leads us to disagree for a time. It is in our fellowship of faith that we all grow to know the abundance that we have in Christ. I know Him better because of my fellowship with you and with all others that gather together around Jesus. We need each other.

I'm a lurker here usually, but I had to stop by and comment on this post.

"However, God in His Mercy is also sending His own prophets who speak the truth. Their message is not sweet and palatable to the human heart but it is true."

Man. I'm just blown away reading that. Thank you for that word. I know deep down it's true.

"As the Lord hastens the day when the faith shall be made sight and every eye will see Jesus and confess Him as Lord."

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Blessings in Messiah Yeshua, our common master, my personal king, the son of David who's coming is getting closer every day. Shalom to all you fine folks at Gracehead, and thank you for this excellent, encouraging post.

Amen...this brought me to tears...not tears in joy for myself as one now accepted, but as one who sees all the Lord says and promises coming to pass before my very eyes day
after day... tears of joy for you, Pam, as the Lord has revealed nothing about me, but has revealed Himself, and His way of doing things, and that indeed it was His Word I have been posting.
And as I have already said and will repeat: I was at times a hinderance to His message being received by others, because I entered into debates over His message, even striving over Words, of which, I was not to do...I was only to deliver the Lord's message and pray, answering or searching the scriptures with those who were sincere in their asking.
Romans 14:21
21 What is good is not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.

His message stands strong on its own...what can any human power do to make it more or less than it is? The Lord has since corrected me sharply for these things and I am very grateful, Him being the perfect Father and the One to Whom I turn continually. "He must become MORE important and I must become less important" as John the Baptist said.

John 3:29 "The Bridegroom is the one who has the bride; but the bridegroom's friend, who stands and listens to Him, is overjoyed at the sound of the Bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine is now complete. 30 He must become more important, while I become less important. 31 "He who comes from above is above all. He who is from the earth is from the earth and talks from an earthly point of view; He who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies about what He has actually seen and heard, yet no one accepts what He says! 33 Whoever does accept what He says puts his seal on the fact that God is true, 34 because the One whom God sent speaks God's words. For God does not give Him the Spirit in limited degree -- 35 the Father loves the Son and has put everything in His hands. 36 Whoever trusts in the Son has eternal life. But whoever disobeys the Son will not see that life but remains subject to God's wrath."

Indeed Yeshua is the Head and we are all parts of His body...and together we stand - servants, washing each others feet...He is above all.

Thank you for this message Pam, but more so thank you Lord Yeshua for your patients and great love.

Now you may receive that which the Lord has spoken of, but only as a solidification of your understanding, which was born in due time, of Him and in Him, according to the good pleasure of HIS will.

Indeed you are blessed in the Beloved. As are we all, who trust in Him, Yeshua, the Gift and song of our hearts, our fortress and sanctuary from that Day which is upon us.

Abundant and continued blessings in Christ,
Timothy

Hi Timothy,

Bless you and know that we truly can't hinder or promote the message of God. He has made allowance for all of our failures and He will not allow us to take credit for any work that is only His. It is hard and painful for all of us to decrease and I am one of the toughest cookies in that area. My pride does not hinder the work of God but only my own joy in receiving that work that is a gift. It is easy to have such a passion for the truth that we blind ourselves and block our ears to the Truth Who truly does not need our promotion but desires only our surrender. Though God does not condone our sins, for those of us in Christ, all that is evil is being worked toward the good. Somehow, in the life He has appointed us their is also allowance for all of the ways that we will fail and in that what is meant as evil, to harm us and others, becomes a life lesson that teaches us more of Him. Think of all we have learned and how much more dear our fellowship has become in large part because of God dealing with the sin in each of us. Our unity lies in Jesus Christ and no mere human conflict can set assunder what God has put together.

You remind me a great deal of myself when I was younger, not your gift, but your rather fierce independence and zeal. We are strong when we are weak and for some of us, God has to allow a lot to weaken us, to cause us to decrease, so that He has the pre-emminence.

I too, I think, am entering in to the last full season of evil in my personal life. In my flesh, I bear the consequences of my sin and the sins of others against me. I rejoice in knowing that after this final season passes, I will be free from this body of death and awake in such a state as to remember death no more. The battle with my sin and the endurance of its consequences will be finally ended. When I arise, there will be nothing in me to rise up against God anymore. That is the peace of God.

Rest, Timothy. You have much ahead of you. Remember, it is God who is strong.

Love In Christ,
Pam

THANK GOD for the giftings the LORD gives to His Body. Aside from Agape Love, ... the true prophetic gift and office is often the most difficult and the most rare, ... and certainly the most easily misunderstood.

Blessings are ever upon those who are faithful to their calling and the word given...

oh, my heart is joyed in this. I know I'm a little late in conversation here, but I just wanted to add....my bones rattle too....and this building up in my chest of the Lord's spirit and love is almost more than I can bear. Thank You, Lord Yeshua, for giving us all eyes to see and ears to hear. I rejoice in your healing, Pam!!! Let us all respect the Words the Lord gives us through our real prophets. Yes, Trent, we will know them by the Spirit. :) This truly truly warms my heart. This is a band of fellowship in the Lord that shall not be broken.

Hi Len and Emily,

All praise to Jesus! Whether I am in sickness or in health, always praise to Jesus, for in all situations in life, He is my susetenence. All situations in my life are appointed that He might be glorified that He might glorify the Father.

I too rejoice that I don't have a tumor that requires surgery or cancer to deal with on top of everything else that is going on with my body. I am not completely healed but God is merciful to not give me more than I can bear and further healing is completely up to Him and whatever He appoints in my life to bring Him glory, I will accept. How could I do less? Jesus did not want to die but accepted the Father's Will to glorify the Father and open the Way to reconcile me to God that He would become my Father also. I know that one day I will be completely healed, never to suffer illness again. Whether that healing be now or in the time to come is wholly up to the Father.
