There is no greater power, no greater force for good than Love. God is Love and as He is irresistible so is Love irresistible. It is by the power of Love that all of the commandments of God are upheld and fulfilled. When we Love God with all of our hearts and minds and those around us as ourselves, we are no longer subject to the Law for by Love, we become God's Law in flesh and blood.
Knowledge of the Bible and God via Biblical teaching is important but if that which is taught or that which we learn does not incite us to Love then that knowledge and teaching has become unsound. Any teaching that causes us to see ourselves as above any other and to regard some as outcaste are in violation of God's Law. When we fail to Love, we have broken every one of God's sacred commandments. God's Laws are the epitome of God's Love for His children; for all of God's Laws are for our good and not for our harm. If we were able to uphold those Laws, we would lead long and peaceful lives upon the earth but our nature is opposed to the Law and to the Love that is God. Yet, God Loves us despite ourselves and our natural tendency to oppose Love and failure to trust in He Who is Love.
It is Love that marks us a disciples of Jesus. That very Jesus Who is our faith. It is not Biblical knowledge or right doctrine that demonstrates to the world that Jesus is our Master but it is our love for one another that demonstrates that power which is Christ in us. It is Christ Jesus Who enters in to our hearts and minds through faith, that faith also being a gift of God, that changes our nature and that which causes us to live in opposition to Love, in opposition to God Himself. In Christ, we are made free from our sinful nature, which is sinful as it is contrary to God, and also made free from the Law as in Christ we become the Law lived out in Love and are no longer subject to it.
Yet, we still tend to return to our old ways, forgetting that we have been forgiven and wholly accepted by God in Love. We turn to knowledge and desire our own holiness so as to impress God rather than live in the power of God that is Love. That Love fully expressed in Christ Jesus as He died for us that we might be forgiven our opposition toward God our Heavenly Father. That very Jesus Who yet, also lives for us that we might live out our days in the power of Love as He lives His Life out in us and through us.
The faith that is Jesus Christ is not what one knows, or the holidays one keeps, or the number of meetings one attends, or the rules one lives by.(Though all Biblical knowledge, teaching, and obedience ought to bring us to the point of loving God and others more.) The faith that is Jesus Christ is a life lived in surrender to the power of God, a life lived in Love.
May God the Father make us all mindful to face every situation not in our own power or goodness but fully resting in the only power given us that we might uphold and fulfill the Laws of God, the power of Love Who is the God and Father of us all. Amen.
