In church, we heard alot about how the passover lamb was analogous with Jesus, and that belief is as we would swipe the blood of the lamb over our door-post. I am not saying anything against that, but that is not the whole story, for the passing of the death angel. They are commanded to eat the passover lamb whole, and by eating it did they have life.
That physical lamb eaten whole became the material of their physical body ... for you are what you eat. And by eating the Lord Jesus, the goal is for the substance of Christ - even God's own Spirit become the substance of our very being. This is not something that you point to as when you accept and believe ... this is a working inward of the Life of God made available through Jesus, and the assimilation of that Life in outward expression ... as our being manifest this new reality to the world around us. We become as we eat ... it becomes real in expression.
It is a relief to express the truth of our inner condition (like food that gets digested as opposed to indigestion.) It is an oppression and vexation to hide it by sin. Paul said to "put on Christ" ... and that is not to change what we are, but to REVEAL what we are. For Christ is our Life, and it suits us to walk upright and holy in this world ... sin no longer suits us and we can hardly find any sin that offers any comfort any more.
