the foremost expert on scripture

If you talk to my grandfather, then the person could only be Jack Van Impe, who is the formost of all of God's creatures when it comes to scripture knowledge. That is why I really risked life and limb last month when I stood in his living room (as his house guest) and answered the question: "Who among all of God's created creatures, is by far the foremost expert on scripture?" click below for rest of article

[More:]

"The answer," looking right at my grandfather, "is none other then ...
SATAN."

Hey Trent...am I missing something or is that all of the article you posted?  It says to 'click below for rest of article"...and there is no more article to view.  I'd love to find out  JVI's response to your statement.  It's 4AM and it's time for me to leave work...but now I'm curious about this.  Now I'll have to keep checking back the rest of this weekend to find out...

Thanks for leaving me hanging... :) lol!!!

I said this to my Grandfather, not JVI. (sorry for the ambiguity and confusion.)

There was awkward silence, and then Grandfather, when into how JVI was a walking Bible with Greek and English New Testaments memorized forward and backwards. yadda yadda yadda.

For a minute there the silence was palatable, and Heather just stood there wide-eyed, like she was watching a car-wreck.

Great answer, certainly better than JVI. It's always tough to argue with Grandpa's about stuff like this. They only ask the question because they have an answer! I remember similar discussions with my Grandpa where I rejoiced when I actually said what I thought! I never did that before Christmas though.

hahaha. Man you got b---s

That was a good story, and so true. Religious obligation acording to
any code is the most binding power on earth and our enemies use it
well, especially through scripture, to try to keep us from being free.

When someone says "it is written", watch out. Oops. Guilty as charged.......not.

Jeff,

I lucked out on this one, and Grandfather's senility kicked in before he could get to mad about it.

Steve,
"""... enemies use it well, especially through scripture, to try to keep us from being free."""

The best tool that the deceiver has is the scripture, cultural concepts, and religious tradition - all leading away from Jesus- away from Truth.

God, on the other hand, has the Counselor, Whose revelation can dismantle any deception, and minister the Truth that sets men free.

Funny how the best place to find those furthest from the Truth is the Christian TV broadcast or behind the pulpit at the church.
Of course, God could change all of that in a second, if He saw it as a real hindrance to His goals.

Rev. 22:10 Then he told me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near. 11 Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy."

Still ripening,
Trent
