Its like many church-goers are reading a different Bible!

I don't believe church-goers when they say that Jesus said "no man knows the time and the seasons."
... because my bible reads: "know that it is at the doors when you see these things" Matt 24:32-33.
Rather it says we do not know the "day" nor the "hour." But we do what we are asked in "due season." (vs 45)
Maybe the problem is that church-goers would prefer that everyone else was in the dark about that which Paul said we should "know perfectly." (1 thess 5:2)

No man knows the day or the hour, but where is it written that it is proper to turn a blind eye to the seasons and times when the markers of His return are shown before our faces on a daily basis?

I don't believe church-goers when they say that "all gifts have ceased and there are no more prophets."
... because my bible says "Despise not prophesyings" (1 thess 5:21-22)
Rather the Lord said "I will send you prophets, wisemen and scribes" (Matt 24:34)
Maybe the problem is that a typical church-goer feels that all gifts have ceased because he has not been given any, nor have they "sought earnestly" (1 co 14:12) for them.

"Therefore you do NOT lack ANY spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. " (1 cor1:7)

Some say we all lack 100% of spiritual gifts since the New Testament is finished. I believe as Paul, ... that we retain 100% of all gifts as we wait eagerly for the Lord's return.

I don't believe church-goers when they say that "Paul got on to the Thessalonians because they thought the second coming was imminent and they all quit their jobs."
because my Bible says "evil servant shall say in his heart, `My lord delayeth his coming,'" (mat 24:48)
Rather, God's word is plain and even shockingly the opposite in Paul's own words:

What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none; those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away. (1 Corinthians 7:29 - 31)

Some err in the expectation that He is coming before His time. Others err in the expectation that He is delayed and won't be here anytime soon. Please let us be counted among those that are correct, and if not correct then let us be a people like Paul who err towards too early rather than too late.

I don't believe people who say "[Jesus] will come like a thief in the night and thieves always break in when you least expect them to" as an excuse to have no watchfulness and to be unaware
... because my Bible says to "take heed" lest "Day come upon you unawares." (Lk 21:34)
Rather, Jesus taught in parables about readiness and being alert to the call of His return:

"And at midnight there was a cry made: `Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.' Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps." ... "and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut." (Matt 25:6,7,10)

Some don't hear the cry and are caught unawares but all of this teaching is so we are warned to not let it happen. Shall we then let it happen saying that is the way God wants it?

Amen!

I had a similar email, which I wrote today on this same topic (all glory to The Lord only, who has revealed these things to us):

....Obviously these interpretations of Scripture among the churches are in error...

-Many church-goers assert: "no man knows the time nor the seasons"

-Jesus said: "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming." and "So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near--at the doors!"

[*Note regarding:

Mt 24:36 -
"But of that *day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

*The Feast of Trumpets is known as "the days and Hour Unknown" by the Jews today and then.]

-So the "church-goer" is wrong on both points and need to re-read Mat. 24. Jesus said we won't know the day or hour, yet He commanded us to know the "season" of His coming in Mat 24 and in some of the parables as well. Not to mention He described exactly what would happen leading right up to His return - "at the door!". Which shows us the "time" and the "season".

-And "they" state in 1 Cor 13 that spiritual gifts have ceased especially prophecy, taking it totally out of context. 1 Cor 13 was talking about, love never ceases, but someday spiritual gifts will cease. Yet in this chapter and the chapter before it, Paul was explaining that there would be spiritual gifts IN THE CHURCH BODY. Yet the churches use this to say that there are no more after Revelation was written...Did Paul contradict himself, and that, more than once?! Why then did Paul also say?:

1Th 5:20 - "Despise not prophesyings" and...

1Co 12:28 - "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."

How could spiritual gifts have passed away if the church body still exists, and whats more, Revelation was written BEFORE Paul wrote Corinthians.

2 Corinthians 12:1-10
1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I knew a man (John) in Christ above (over) fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven (Heaven). 3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words (the Book of Rev.), which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

-So when will spiritual gifts cease?
Answer: In the Kingdom

Jer 31:34 -
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Hab 2:14 -
For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

Unknowingly many churches of men are fulfilling these verses and causing 'lukewarmness' among their members...

2 Peter 3:3-7
3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation."

Re 3:16 -
16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'--and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked-- 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

-And as far as the 'thief in the night' vs 'every eye shall see Him'. Thus says the Lord:

Home > Volume 3 > As God is Three Aspects, All as One...So Too is the Coming of the Son of Man

10/7/05 - From God the Father - A Letter Given to Timothy, For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear

If the Son of Man comes in full power and glory, and every eye shall see Him, then how is He also come as a Thief?

Here is wisdom: The Son of Man comes at a day and hour unknown to spoil the house of the strong man. All that belongs to the Lord shall be taken, and all that belongs to the strong man, left.

The Son of Man first comes as Spirit, poured out on the nations, to call on His elect...then as the Thief to take them away. For those forgiven must be taken out to make the way open to the strong man's servant, so he may rule. Those, forgiven and fully converted in their hearts, have no place in judgment...they have passed from judgment into life.

When the Day of Troubles is concluded, and the Father's judgments carried out, then behold!...the Son of Man comes on the clouds, with the trumpet shout of God, in His raiment of power and great glory. When the thunder and lightning crashes, filling the heavens, and the sun, the moon, and the stars are darkened, and the glorious ensign separates the heavens before the eyes of all, then shall you know the Son of Man, the Lord of Lords, Christ Jesus, the Son of God who is come as God, shall appear!

The end is come, darkness destroyed, the strong man bound.

The Bright and Morning Star has risen...
the new Day begun.
His reign, a thousand years and forever after...
His seat taken.
Give praise, thanksgiving and worship...
The One True King has come!

Verses for 'thief' and 'every eye will see Him':

Re 16:15 -
"Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame."

Re 1:7 -
Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

-Lastly, to uphold these erred interpretations of Scripture regarding prophets the churches of men must ignore the following verses:

1 Cor 12 -
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

Mt 23:34 -
Therefore, indeed, I(Jesus) send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city,

Amos 3:7

Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

Malachi 3:6

"For I am the Lord, I do not change;

-Regarding "adding to" the Bible: If God did not want the Bible to be added to, it would have stopped with Deut 4:2, which is the first book to say "you shall not add to or take away from the Word of God". It was a commandment from God to men, not from God to Himself. God can add to His own Word whenever He wants.
No where in the Bible does God say "ok the Book stops here" or "thats it, we're done here...go luck". God ALWAYS sends prophets...always has, always will, until the Kingdom. Jesus said He was sending them. Paul said they would be in the Body of Believers.

-So how then has (true) prophecy ceased???

-Indeed, it has ceased for those who have *the veil pulled down over their heads...and worse, it is held in place by their own hands and the perverse doctrines of men.

-To this day the churches of men's greatest fear is that the Lord send them a prophet saying "thus says the Lord!" and they find all they have done, is found wanting before the Lord.

**The light has went out of the churches of men...they sit in the dark because their ***lampstand is removed and the veil covers their eyes.

Refs:
*2Co 3:14 -
But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.

"For your land has done great evil in My sight; and you, oh churches of men, have held fast to the veil, pulling it down over your faces." ~ God

***Re 2:5 -

Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place--unless you repent.
