Restful Receptivity

I've learned alot about faith through my cats. They don't worry, fret, or concern themselves with food. The depend 100% on me and Heather. Their faith is a quiet and restful dependence and receptivity. And their faith does not disappoint for we keep their bowls full, and they want for nothing. They may not even know what it is like to "want food."

The Good Shepherd has proven Himself worthy of that same kind of faith from me. Even when my bowl may look lower than usual (continuing the analogy) I know better than to worry. Our hope never disappoints when we hope in Him .. and He supplies all we need according to His riches in glory and with impeccable timing (never late, though seldom early.)

There is never a need to worry, for worry does nothing to supply our daily bread. We can live like a sparrow, reaping without sowing, or like a cat that feeds without preparing its own meal ... can't we?

We don't even need to fret if it seems like things are falling apart.

He may strip us to clothe us in royal robes. He may lead us into a valley to take us to a new peak.

We can trust. We can release our cares to Him as we know how much He cares for us. Then it is not us being a distribution point for His supply to others, but rather us holding His hand and placing other's hands in His as well ... assuring them that the Lord Jesus (not ourselves) has all they need and there is noplace else to look.

Yes, we can learn so much from our animals. My greyhound always lives in the now and does not worry, fret or anything. come to think of it, I used to be that way myself, then, by the laws of nature, I had to go ahead and grow up and loose that "now" mentality the animals have. Now I got to relearn to trust in the Lord the way Elliott trusts in me! Charles
