Needing strength to be delivered from sexual perversion?

For MORE QUESTIONS like this, click here.

I received this question long ago on a message board - Any advice for someone stuck in this situation?

Question -

I'm a proud Christian who is struggling with sexual immorality. I have learned that by watching different things that it allows those demons to transfer into your spirit. I have never been attracted to woman and now when I give a girl compliment on clothes then satan starts talking to me and I rebuke him every time but it gets on my nerves because I think is so stupid for him to try to influence me and something that I have never thought about before. Secondly, recently a close friend of mines let me know about her being Lesbian. I am very scared and know that the devil is trying to attract me through her. Now I feel I can't talk to her because I'm afraid of what might jump off in my spirit. I want to minister to her but also do want to be around her. She thinks I'm neglecting her but I'm not I'm trying to save myself and just talk to her over e-mail. I don't want curiosity to take over my mind. I think that what its all about with her. I want to Be DELIVERED OF ALL SEXUAL THINGS. I'M A FIGHTER AND WON'T GIVE UP! I PRAY THAT GOD HEARS MY CRY. I ALSO learned that this nasty spirits can be transferred from someone you had sex with in the pass and those are his or her spirits in you now and you have to get rid of them. I slept with 3 people in my life and I want to be delivered from their soul ties. I feel so disgusting when sexual thoughts come to my mind. I'm asking your opinion of whats going on and how what can I do as a fighting Christian trying to save my life from destruction. Please left me up in your prayers and I will also pray and fast for myself. I really need someone to talk to me about this. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Courage is not just the strength to go on, but to go on without strength" AMEN :)

After praying about it, I gave this reply:

Did you know that because of this trial you may never have to wonder if you are a Christian ever again. Think about it. - You are not acting as an unbeliever. An unbeliever would not care to about sinning as you do. Remember this trial.

I have better news though. Ready? (drum-roll) God made you weak! Isn't it marvelous! What you are feeling is your weakness responding to the temptation. You will always feel that pull. There is nothing wrong with being tempted and there is nothing wrong with being weak! Here is a scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:5 "Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God" But wait....

I have better news even still. Are you sitting down. God has given you everything that you need for life and godliness. Here is a verse: 2 Peter 1:3 "seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence." Did you know that Christ lives in you and He is not afraid of temptation? He has fulfilled the law. All of God was in Him and He now lives in you! Col 1:19 "For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in Him," verse 27 "... the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." You have a hope of glory! It is Christ in you! But you will never beat temptation in your own strength. Let me show you a more excellent way!

If I asked you how you are responding to the temptation. you would say "How do you think I am responding? I say NO! No, I must not do this!" But did you know that this lonely life of you against temptation is exactly what God saved you from. You were a slave to sin because Christ did not live in you before. Now, your hope of glory is not yourself anymore. You are not alone. You can rest and stop saying "NO" to temptation. You have already lost the battle when you rely on your self. Try saying "YES" to Jesus instead. It takes more that courage. It takes faith. Can you rely on God enough to let Him overcome the temptation in you? Is He reliable? Read for yourself : James 4:7 "Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

You have been "resisting the devil", but have you been submitting? That is my advise. From someone who has been there, Christ will have to win this battle. He is the commander let Him live through you.

READ THIS UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND IT!
Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."

The first paragraph response was beautiful and the rest was really terriffic.  Well done, and I hope it helped him. Thanks, Trent.

Now, let me show you a more excellent way, still!

When Paul told Colosse "Christ in you, the hope of glory."  He did not say "you".  He said "y'all".  Okay, in Greek, but you get the idea...  I think that's very important, especially when we try to remind each other that "you're not alone".

Wat chu tink?

Bill,

God's grace is beautiful. Praise the Lord for the more excellent way!

I think that "ya'll" is a fine way to expand what was said.

(for those up north, "ya'll" translates into "you guys.")

And that brings up a point.

Nothing that this person needed really involved me. I didn't even know them. This person just needed a little word from the Lord.

Something spoken within that my voice could not reach anyway.

So, why does it please God that I should be involved, when He does not need me?

It pleases God that we are bound together in Love. ... He wants to share some things directly with us, and other things He would prefer that we receive while listening to each other, so that our delight might be corporate ... Even as a Body.

Christ in Ya'll?

Darn tootin'!

Ripening for the harvest,

Trent

Trent, I LOVEd that mindset!! How true, when God uses us..it's Him bounding us in Love. Folks DON'T need 'us' persae, most of the time it doesn't involve us, and yet, God uses us for a season to work things out.
Someone here also said, "We're not the message, simply the messenger'. I like that too.

I hope to continue visiting this site--thanks Bud for pointing me to it--sorry it took so long to GET here. I find myself nodding 'amen' alot through here..
thanks folks!

AMEN!

Thank You Lord for giving that to Trent.

More verses:
James 1 -
2 Regard it all as joy, my brothers, when you face various kinds of temptations; 3 for you know that the testing of your trust produces perseverance. 4 But let perseverance do its complete work; so that you may be complete and whole, lacking in nothing. 5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all generously and without reproach; and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in trust, doubting nothing; for the doubter is like a wave in the sea being tossed and driven by the wind. 7 Indeed that person should not think that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8 because he is double-minded, unstable in all his ways. 9 Let the brother in humble circumstances boast about his high position. 10 But let the rich brother boast about his being humbled; since, like a wildflower, he will pass away. 11 For just as the sun rises with the sharav and dries up the plant, so that its flower falls off and its beauty is destroyed, so too the rich person going about his business will wither away. 12 How blessed is the man who perseveres through temptation! For after he has passed the test, he will receive as his crown the Life which God has promised to those who love him.

13 No one being tempted should say, "I am being tempted by God." For God cannot be tempted by evil, and God himself tempts no one. 14 Rather, each person is being tempted whenever he is being dragged off and enticed by the bait of his own desire. 15 Then, having conceived, the desire gives birth to sin; and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death. 16 Don't delude yourselves, my dear brothers. 17 Every good act of giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father who made the heavenly lights; with him there is neither variation nor darkness caused by turning. 18 Having made his decision, he gave birth to us through a Word that can be relied upon, in order that we should be a kind of firstfruits of all that he created.

19 Therefore, my dear brothers, let every person be quick to listen but slow to speak, slow to get angry; 20 for a person's anger does not accomplish God's righteousness! 21 So rid yourselves of all vulgarity and obvious evil, and receive meekly the Word implanted in you that can save your lives. 22 Don't deceive yourselves by only hearing what the Word says, but do it! 23 For whoever hears the Word but doesn't do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror, 24 who looks at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But if a person looks closely into the perfect Torah, which gives freedom, and continues, becoming not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work it requires, then he will be blessed in what he does.

Trent , I also believe in the Grace of God as being sufficient for our salvation. Christ has saved us and sealed us with His Spirit. He lives in us because we cannot do it on our own. We are human and vulnerable to all types of temptation and unfortunately failure to resist at times. Especially the young. We, as mature adults can be more confident in the Lord.I think the Epistles of Paul to the early Church are a part of the "mystery that is now revealed since the world began".
