Yearning For Home

I am often homesick. For a long time now, I have been dwelling in an alien land. In every way, this land is different from the land that is my true home. My home is the Kingdom of God and as I yet remain in this world that is under the dominion of Satan, my heart yearns for that Kingdom.

Satan rules this world through the power of fear. His subjects fear him and live out their lives in bondage to him, shackled by their own sin. Fear causes them to be continually suspicious and in a state of dread. This is a dark and oppressive land and though I presently dwell beneath this dark shadow of death it has no hold upon me for I am in Jesus and He is in me. I am in this world but not of it. I am of the Kingdom of God. When fear attempts to consume me and claim me as its own, I open the Word of God and read, Isaiah 8:12-14a "Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, He is the one you are to fear, He is the one you are to dread, and He will be a sanctuary. As I walk the in earth in this present age, I don't fear the powers that be for they have no power but that which is allotted to them by God and it is He Who shelters me, keeps me safe, and will guide me back home.

When my heart laments the evil that surrounds me and often presses down upon me as Satan seeks to make my life of no effect, I again turn to the promises of God. As I read these letters from home, I am bolstered by the sure promises of my Father and Satan is sent scurrying as I read, Isaiah 16:4b-5 The oppressor will come to an end, and destruction will cease; the aggressor will vanish from the land. In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it--one from the house of David--one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.I am encouraged for I know the One who will sit upon that throne for He is already my King and one day, He will be fully revealed as the King of kings and His rule will be visibly established over all.

Beneath the darkness that the prince of this world castes upon God's Creation, there is great sadness, sorrow, and misery. Truly, not a one of us can lay our head down at night in safety. Though presently, the Holy Spirit yet remains with the elect and the darkness of evil is held back from its full intent. Satan has met his match in Jesus and those in whom Jesus dwells will have victory over the darkness and not be consumed by it in this present age. Our safety in this world is in Him and in Him is the world to come established as through Him the Will of God is done upon the earth. Satan is angry for his kingdom is fading and soon the true Light of the world will fully dispel the darkness as His righteousness fills the earth. Satan will be imprisoned and the home that I long for will be open to all the living of all the nations that remain upon the earth. Those who survive the full force of evil that Satan will bring to bear as his time grows short will be those who have made the LORD their sanctuary as they have sought safety in the coming King, King Jesus. The reality of that Kingdom will wipe away all remembrance of the fear that now grips the inhabitants of the earth as the kingdom of the prince of this world is turned upside down.

Isaiah 11:1-11 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him--the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD---and He will delight in the fear of the LORD.

He will not judge by what He sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with His ears; but with righteousness He will judge the needy, with justice He will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth; with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be His belt and Faithfulness the sash around His waist.

The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lay down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his into the viper's nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to Him, and His place of rest will be glorious. In that day the Lord will reach out His hand a second time to reclaim the remnant that is left of His people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the sea.

Father in Heaven, Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Come Lord Jesus! Amen.

Emily,

We are ever in His presense now but when His Kingdom comes, all will be aware of it.:0)No one will think we're teched because we say that God speaks to us and that He listens to us. Everyone will walk and talk with God. That will be when this heart change that you and I experience now in Christ Jesus will be common tangible reality and what rappers today call reality, that which they express in demeaning vulgarity and violence, will be completely forgotten. I can't wait until the Hope that Jesus has place in me and you fills every human heart!

"The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, He is the one you are to fear, He is the one you are to dread, and He will be a sanctuary."

Thanks for this verse. I find it easy to get consumed with worrying about what others think, and it sometimes seems so foreign to consider God's opinion ... to remember God's total power, how He allows us to live each day ... to consider how He will deal with those who refuse to know Him ... how dreadful!

I liked the part about dwelling in a foreign land. To belong to Christ is, in many ways, to be dead to this world, this land.

Thanks for the post, Pam.

You're welcome, BB but really it is from God. I only share that which He gifts me during all the times that I doubt and have fear and momentarily forget who I am in Christ.

Thank you for the encouragement of your fellowship.:0)
