Freedom's Death-Bed

controllerOn a road-trip, my eyes opened to something quite obvious but unobserved up until then.

In the countryside, animals come and go and live unhindered by one another. (Yeah, I know that some are hunters and others are hunted, but God has equipped the hunted with defenses and balance is usually kept.) ... What I am really talking about is the control that they don't foist upon their own. I don't see horses dominating 1000s of other horses. The power struggles, if they exist, are nothing like what man has done.

In this world, today, are your eyes open that we do not live like the animals of the field?

For the most part, humanity has an elite few that dominate the vast majority. No wonder God is full of sorrow with what we have done on this earth. So little freedom we have afforded ourselves in this age, when so much was given. What a squander of God's goodness! What a disaster!

I guess we can each be agents of freedom until the new Kingdom is established, but ultimately the situation is going to get MUCH worse before it is made better... and I guess the point of this is not a real call-to-action (there is a place for those, as the one Pam has posted,) but rather an observation of how things really are... and a hint of where they will soon be going.

Someone soon will demand you get permission for many of the free things that we have taken for granted... and that is sad, because even now we are so limited compared to the rest of God's creation in what we can do without another of our own kind controlling us to God's own bitter sadness.

It is man's rule supplanting God's rule.

We learn by contrasts, and what a beautiful contrast it will be when the Lord Jesus takes over... 1000 years... Bliss you won't want to miss. We will see some ugly times ahead, and thus we won't take for granted the wonder of His ways when they are established. We will appreciate Him all the more, as He delivers His will in our lives as our King and the lover of our souls.

"Why, oh men of the earth, do you make shackles and cast them about your own feet?
You have become a slave of your own evil desires.
Turn to He who holds all the keys and in whom all find freedom.
Amen."
-Jesus

The rule of righteousness when the freedom that we now experience in Christ fills the entire earth. We have this hope to carry us through all that lies immediately ahead and thanks to the Mercy of God, this hope will not be long deferred. In Him we will endure for His Mercy endures forever and the rule of man over man will not!
