An Idol Named, Me

Psalm 1: Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

I have a confession to make. The seat of the mocker is in me. This seat is called Self. Self very much wants to be God and Self is lifted of itself to God and the result is only mockery. Before I knew Jesus, I mocked God night and day as I listened to the counsel of the wicked and walked carelessly and thoughtlessly in the way of sinners.

Now I know Jesus and the mocker, from the seat of Self, has been dethroned. Jesus now sits upon that throne that is at the center of me and I am in Him. The mocker has been caste down from the throne but he remains taunting and dancing around the throne distracting and tempting me. He continually hopes to regain his old position and sit in the place of God in me.

I in Jesus am safe from the mocker. He really has no power over me. Thanks be to Jesus! However, he is often successful in deceiving me into believing that I am remaining true to Jesus when in actuality, he has only fooled me in aiding him in returning to his false state of God-hood. He beguiles me into making God into my own image, idols named, Me. God reveals to me truths of Himself and without even thinking, I begin fashioning idols named, Me from these very holy truths and demean them to systems of belief. I then follow these systems and promote them as I mock God by believing that in this manner, I am serving Him when in reality, I am bowing to the Idol Me.

Idols are lifeless and useless. They are of the same stuff as the wicked; chaff that will blow away on Judgment Day. The mocker will blow away too. Only the Righteous will stand and He is only Jesus. Thank you, Father that Jesus lives in me. Praise be to God that Jesus is saving me from Me.

Excellent teaching, Pam ! The connivings of the "fallen 'godlike' self" is an area we all need to be vigilant over. Rebellion, pride, and self-assertiveness are the main open doors for this work of satan and the flesh.

The LORD can AND WILL deliver us; we just need to be humble and allowing Him to search our hearts.

Excellent teaching.

Hi Len,

If we can't get ourselves humble, He'll take us there!

Thanks Len.

Yep. That's part of His faithfulness, ... and His Fatherly Love.

Know this, Beloved, some of the boys represent people in your life and the world, who will try to cut you down and sway you from your task; and all represent the many hordes of demons sent by the evil one, for they can not desecrate your beliefs, so they will try to rip them from your body with pain and anguish.
