One Teacher

I have been called a teacher by others but it is a title that is difficult to accept. I don't think of what I do as teaching but rather sharing all that God has given me in Christ. God speaks to me through His Son, Jesus who lives in me and I am compelled to tell others many of the things He says to me. Often, I use scripture as a guide and as an authority and I do teach them but I can't teach God to anyone. Instead, I point to Jesus the Christ the only One qualified to teach God for He is the only begotten Son of God.

Jesus is not another Rabbi. He is not a mere mortal man who teaches facts about God. Jesus is divine, the true Son of God as He is the Living Word. Jesus does not teach as human teachers do, that which they know is right to do but often fail at themselves. Jesus is the express image of God and to see Him is to see God. Everything that Jesus did upon the earth was the actual work of God performed through Him; this the essence and meaning of the Living Word.

Each of us who are in Christ and a part of His called out company, the church are under the direct tutelage of God through His Son Jesus Christ. This is accomplished by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit when Jesus is first revealed to us and we receive Him as Savior. Though we may sit under the teachings of many human teachers, it is only when Jesus speaks through them according to the Holy Spirit as the oracles of God that we are to take to heart what is being said. It should never be received as coming from that particular teacher or preacher, who is merely a mouthpiece for Christ, but as being words spoken directly to us by God. It is the Holy Spirit that gives us discernment as to that which comes from God and that which comes from a man or a woman. We are responsible to throw out all that is of the human teacher and accept only that which comes from God.

A teacher, like any believer in Christ Jesus, is merely an ambassador for Christ. All that is of Him, which is taught, points to Him just as the Holy Spirit points continually to Jesus. Jesus in not merely the leader or even the center of the Christian faith, Jesus is the faith that has been gifted to us by the Heavenly Father. Jesus is the center of the Bible and the true center of all Biblical teaching but He is not merely doctrine. Jesus is the Word of God and every word in the Bible is expressed through Him before He walked the earth, (as all things visible and invisible are made through Him), during His walk upon the earth, (as all the Old Testament Law and His death, the long foretold ransom from sin and death, and rising again to give us eternal life, were completely fulfilled) and in our future, (when Jesus comes again to establish fully His Kingdom and fully redeem the Creation putting His enemies fully under His feet and destroying them). This is God's plan to return mankind and His entire Creation to Himself and this plan is the very Jesus, the Christ of God.

If you desire to know the Living God, if you desire to be taught of Him, then look to no human teacher but instead look to the only true teacher, Jesus Christ. As the Holy Spirit draws you to Him, receive Him and He will open your spiritual eyes and ears to know Him and to know your Heavenly Father as that same Holy Spirit fills you with faith. In Jesus only is there true peace with God.

Matthew 23:8 But you, do not be called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. And Matthew 23:10 And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ.

These are the Words of Jesus.

Very good Word Pam, and I understand your feelings on sharing and not being a title holder. I think Gifting is for the body of Christ's edification, and not for positions as they are given out by man.

Hi Dennis,

Yes, and I also believe that God gifts us according to the present need. Gifting is not of individual talent but of the Holy Spirit only. If there is no one capable of preaching, God will empower someone to preach to fulfill His purpose. All to the glory of God in exalting Jesus and never any man or woman.
