The Light Of Darkness

Matthew 6:22-23 The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore that light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! AND Col. 1:13-18 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and coverted us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the first born from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

All things that God has created were created through Jesus Christ and it is in Christ that all things are held together. To believe that anyone or anything is truly outside of Him is a delusion for there is no life in anything breathing that does not emanate from God. It is the very breath of God that gives life and when He withdraws that breath, all living things fall back to the dust, the elements of the earth from which He formed them. All living creatures with the exception of human beings, accept this fact without reasoning; but we, who are made in the image of God, were not fashioned upon instinct but with the ability to reason just as God reasons. Eve, upon being beguiled by the serpent, reasoned within herself that she could live apart from the direction of God and live according to her own choosing. In her desire to be like God, she fell to the delusion that she could live apart from Him. Eve began to live as a god even though she was fashioned from the dust and could hold no life on her own apart from God. This is the birth of human morality; the daily act of choosing between good and evil. This is the birthplace of religion which seeks to imitate God by continually perpetuating the lie that man lives or dies according to his own choosing. This is the dark light that the world, in blind deception, places all hope.

The crux of religion is the holding of women and men responsible for their choosing between good and evil. The power of religion is in holding torment, torture, and death over the head of those who do not choose appropriately. They have even lowered the Christ as to be of man's wise choosing rather than teaching as the Bible teaches that those who belong to Christ were given to Him by His Heavenly Father and that truly, nothing that is visible or invisible exists outside the Christ. This is the heart of the deception that is sin. It is not choosing evil that brought the fall of humankind but choosing apart from the direction of God. Sin is the sting of death and death is separation from God. Yet, as all things that Satan uses are deception, so too is the eternal nature of death also one of his deceptions;for death is not eternal but will, at the end of time, swallow itself in the Lake of Fire. This is the second death and when that is accomplished the true eternal state will be fully revealed; that of Life, Who is Jesus the Christ, the only begotten Son of God.

Jesus is not a religion. He is not a philosophy designed to aid human beings in making wise decisions between good and evil. Jesus is a person, Who once walked the earth, as we do, in a body of flesh and blood. He did not make choices according to His own reasoning, as to that which would be good or evil, but instead, lived out His life under the full direction of His Father in Heaven. This was not accomplished without pain for Jesus lived in the same weak body of clay that we all dwell in but Jesus always turned to the Father in obedience to do His Father's Will and never succumbed to His own desire for power, or the avoidance of pain, and not even the fear of death. Because He lived a life and died a death in complete obedience to the direction of God, He opened the Door and prepared the Way that we too might be freed from the fear and the deception of death and have close communion with our Father in Heaven; that our lives, with the aid of the Holy Spirit within us, might also be lived out according to the direction of God with our full knowledge of Him in our lives.

When Jesus is revealed to each of us, the deception begins to fall away. Our sin, our choosing apart from He who made us and gives us breath, is covered by the blood of Jesus and remembered no more. We no longer live according to our own choosing but instead we learn to walk according to the Spirit as under the tutelage of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit placed within us, we learn to surrender our own way to His perfect Will. This is the only manner in which any of us are able to walk in the Way and our feet are first set upon that path when Jesus is revealed to us. It is in living our lives according to the Spirit, trusting in the forgiveness of Jesus when we naturally turn back to our own way, that Christ is formed in us and is also revealed to others through us. All who love Jesus want others to see Him in us but that will never be achieved through our power of choice; but rather by our full surrender to the Will of God.

Do not fall to the deception that holds the entire world in its sway. Do not replace Jesus with the choosing of morality, with religion. Don't attempt to beat your flesh into submission in a futile attempt to raise yourself to God. Instead, surrender to Him as Jesus is revealed to you and then simply receive Him as He is offered to you, as He was also offered for you. In this is the joy that passes all understanding for Jesus is the Way that leads to Life, Who also is Jesus, and unveils all Truth, that is the completed revelation of Jesus to the entire world. Do not hesitate to bend the knee and confess Him as Lord for the Truth will set you free from the bondage of man's own choosing apart from a loving Heavenly Father and put to an end the deception of Satan. In Christ Jesus, our eyes are opened wide and we see all things as they truly are. Let us not focus our eyes upon the good and the evil and the dark light that a blind world follows but instead, let us encourage one another to keep our eyes upon Jesus that we may be continually filled by He Who is the true Light of the world. Amen.

Gee, Bruce, I'm blushing...but really the credit doesn't belong to me because it is all there in God's Word. Too many of us are lazy and learn only what we are spoon fed we are the enablers of the purveyors of religion. It is good to remember that they have been forgiven too.:0)
