Universal Salvation = FALSE.
One would need to be a bit of a Bible ignoramus (not that it stops theologians) to not catch-on that every sin is forgiven every man that could ever be forgiven. Jesus IS the Lamb of God, and Jesus took away the sins of the world! It only took one act to reconcile God's enemies, and there will not be another. Nobody needs to ask for something that they already have, and thus there is nobody recorded in scripture (whether saint or sinner) ever asking for forgiveness from God, as if they lacked it after Calvery.
1 John 2
My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
So forgiveness IS universal. Nobody will be damned for their sins. PERIOD.
Salvation is a different subject from forgiveness. Where forgiveness is for EVERYONE by the DEATH of Jesus; Salvation is consistently scripturally linked to the Life that is quickened by the Holy Spirit - having the LIFE of God. And just because God is not holding sins against you, that does not mean that you have the Life of God.
Ephesians 4:18
They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.
It is always a miracle when someone first repents and welcomes God to give them the ability by the Spirit to change and be made new. It is NOT by our will. In fact, it is the exact opposite. We thank the Lord for it is not our might or power, but by His Spirit that any are renewed by the Spirit through the Life of God.
What is on my heart is that those that are born from above, and deposited with the Divine attributes by the Spirit, welcome the Life of God continue to flow that they might share in the simple beauty of God expressing Himself through them - which is true biblical salvation.
"For godliness is not the consequence of your capacity to imitate God, but the consequence of His capacity to reproduce Himself in you; not self-righteousness, but Christ-righteousness; the righteousness which is by faith a faith which by renewed dependence upon God releases His divine action, to restore the marred image of the Invisible God. It is not inactivity, but Christ-activity; God in action accomplishing the divine end through human personality - never reducing man to the status of a cabbage, but exalting man to the stature of king! "For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:17)."
