Getting the Best of Guilt by Grace

Budz Buzz

Recently someone asked me about how to rid themselves of the shame and the unworthiness accompanying sin. I began with the book of Hebrews. It's a very good place to begin dealing with feelings of guilt, failure and unworthyness in a straightforward and biblical way.

Hi Bud,

This is good for me as someone who's husband is constantly reprimanding to 'quit beating up on yourself'. Self is so hard for all Christians to deal with and it raises its head in the most incideous ways.

What you've written reminds me to look to Christ in ALL things.

True words, Bud. I think the hardest thing for me to do is forgive myself. If the only person I've inconvenienced in my shortcomings is myself, then so be it. However, if my downfall causes someone else to be extremely inconvenienced, then I feel MISERABLE! This was true when I dropped the ball at school (unintentionally) and because of that, one of my parents wasn't going to be able to attend a field trip after SHE did everything right, but because I dropped the ball, she couldn't go. Thankfully, we found a loophole and she went, but I felt SOO bad for her! To top it off, she was such a sweetheart about the whole thing! I hate causing other people grief, and I know I'll do it again--but I hate it...
thankfully, God's got it handled...
