Most people approach the topic of blasphemy of the Spirit as if it describes a specific action that one might commit by careless act or misdeed. However, blasphemy of the Spirit is not an action, it is a condition.
Everyone blasphemes the Spirit from the time that they are born until the time that they die ... UNLESS, there comes a time when they are enthusiastic or half-heartedly interested in salvation through the impartation of God's own Spirit within their innermost being. Alot of people call this ...
Its like a bowl of cake-mix that can't become anything other then a dry powder as long as it is separate from the milk. It is blaspheming the milk by staying apart from it. But if the bowl is receptive to the milk, then the milk is poured into the bowl and starts blending with the cake-mix. As the cake-mix and milk is stirred together, they are becoming something new, and they are becoming ONE.
Now if you look into the bowl, you don't see milk, nor cake-mix. Instead you see a new substance = CAKE BATTER!
Cake-mix can no longer blaspheme the milk, because it is one with the milk ... and in fact it is no longer cake-mix - it is CAKE BATTER. You can't reverse that. You cannot change it. You cannot separate milk from cake-mix once they are combined.
So, you spent a long portion of your life blaspheming the Holy Spirit, and it wasn't forgiveness that you needed (you were forgiven 2000 years ago of every other forgiveable sin.) You just needed to correct that one last unforgiveable error and let yourself be mixed with the Holy Spirit ... when you asked Him to come inside your life and change you into something new.
I don't care how sincere you were when you asked Him for this, because He heard you anyway, and has been running the mixer continually since. Like it or not, you can't go back. You are stuck as a non-blasphemer of the Holy Spirit, and there is nothing that you can do to change it ... not in life and not in death.
Look at this combining the Spirit of God and your innmost being as one might dunk (or BAPTIZE) tea into water changing the water into tea. For this infusion/union of a foriegn substance is as the potency of the Holy Spirit to make us Holy, even as He is Holy ...
Romans 6:3-7 (NIV)
3Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
Freed from sin?
Is not the old man ... the cake-mix ... dead, once it becomes cake-batter? Isn't the water completely gone, once you have brewed the tea? And if it was sin to stay apart from that with which it was mingled ... then couldn't we say that it has been freed from sin, once it was mingled?
Our union with the Lord Jesus is so that we may live a new life ... "we too" ... "just as" Jesus!
United? Yes, UNITED, through baptism INTO the Lord Jesus!
This is the very basics of the gospel! Please tell me that it resonnates with you!
My beloved daughter, I have both redeemed and forgiven you by Him I sent to suffer and die for you. It is only your rejection of that Truth that leads you into temptation. ~ God [Letters from God and His Christ - Volume Volume 4 ~ One...]
